Meet Rasa & Karuna

For twenty years we have walked this path together, two seekers who met on a purposeful travel and never looked back. We have lived in many places, studied with masters across traditions, raised a daughter we are immensely proud of, and dedicated our lives to emotional healing and spiritual evolution. Now, with our nest beautifully empty and our hearts full of hard-earned wisdom, we bring everything we have learned to Joy of the Four Directions, a retreat born from a lifetime of living, exploring and transforming.

Rasa

Master Flutist & Sound Healer

Rasa’s relationship with sound began at age 13 when he moved with his father to India and discovered the flute — a fifty-year love story that has taken him across the world. A master musician and sound healer, he has played for healing workshops and community gatherings in Osho communities worldwide, recorded multiple albums, led sound meditations in health farms in Israel, and participated in celebrated ecstatic prayer and dance projects including Orot and the Girija Project. Today from his own studio in Nosara, he composes original music — weaving groove box, keyboard, loopers and live flute into immersive soundscapes — including the four original compositions at the heart of this retreat. He is also a beloved presence in the ecstatic dance community of Nosara, where he regularly holds sound baths.

Karuna

Healer, Facilitator & Storyteller

Karuna’s path has been as rich and varied as the places she has called home. A trained Chinese medicine doctor, she practiced in Pachamama Costa Rica and New York City before discovering the transformative world of raw vegan body detox, leading cleansing retreats across Costa Rica and Ann Wigmore institutes around the world. Living in a Waldorf community, she developed original programs for communal sweat lodge and detox practices that she led with dedication for eight years. She has also built small factories for raw chocolate and artisan high-end tofu — because nourishment, in all its forms, has always been her calling. A natural storyteller, Karuna is the author of the fiction novel Relocation, inspired by a lifetime of adventurous living. Where Rasa speaks through music, Karuna speaks through words — and together they create a space where people feel welcome and safe to be intimate with themselves and others.

What Do People Say About Us

"Rasa has the gift of hypnotizing magical music, that makes meditation easy. One of the best in the world in opening the meditation gate to melt in it and let go."
Nissim Amon.

"Rasa I always feel you're playing is carrying something which is beyond you, bigger than you ... and you are blessed enough to not stand too much in the way..."
Parijat
